Desert Ironwood (Olneya Tesota)
One of the best woods for knifemaking. Extremely hard, stable and looks awesome. Blocks have been sprayed with water to show closer to what finished look will be. most surfaces have been sanded to 320. Size can be seen in photos, the grid is in inches.
This is the best of the best for Ironwood, Exhibition grade burl. Expensive? Yup. Worth it? also yes. Can you believe this was a tree in Arizona once?
To learn more:
All wood especially burl may have voids and or cracks/checks splits that are hidden under the surface. We take care to remove most of these flaws but it isn't possible to know about everything. Cracks can be filled with thin superglue and sawdust.
